Perfect Package (6/31)

Today was  a reminder that unexpected blessings happen all the time.

I was on my way home from the chiropractor (that's another story) when I got an urgent call from my mom. My sister-in-law (also my babysitter) was on the way to the hospital...they may be checking her in.

My heart sank and I began to get that panicking feeling. You know, where you feel like your heart may just leap quickly out of your throat. I was reassured that the doctors were keeping a close eye on her and that I'd be updated soon.

A few minutes later, I got a text stating that they were going to deliver the baby early. My nephew, one and only, was on his way. As I taught my precious second graders, I couldn't help but constantly look at my desk.  My phone laid there ready to shake the signal that our little peanut had arrived.

Recess couldn't come quick enough....No baby yet.

The end of the day seemed to drag...baby has arrived. He is healthy, pink, and very alert at 5 pounds 11 ounces.

I am now the proud Aunt of a niece AND a nephew. I couldn't be any happier.

After tucking in my little ones, I hopped in the car and drove down to hold this precious bundle. This was what welcomed me. This precious little gift was sprawled out enjoying his own personal heating fan. His chest slowly rose and fell as he let out a gentle little coo. Flashbacks of holding my little girl a year ago flooded my memory.

What a blessing and gift it is to be able to welcome a perfect package like this into the world. Tomorrow can't get here soon enough. I can't wait to hold him in my arms again.

  4. Yes, what a perfect package. Our little peanut arrived last April, 15 weeks early, weighing only 1 lb. 13 oz. But still, what a perfect package. Enjoy the new little family member.
