Best Birthday Present EVER

It's hard to believe that this will be my third year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. It has been such a wonderful gift to me. I have never been a big writer but I embraced the challenge to observe the gifts that surround me and the obstacle of finding a way to put it into eloquent words. It has also made me a better writing teacher. I now know that importance of giving quality comments to students and making sure that you give them time to master their craft and find what is important in their lives. I look forward to another month/year of slicing with this great community of writers.
I start this challenge on my birthday each year. Hopefully a little wiser and more observant than the previous year. My first post always seems to have something to do with the gifts that are given to me from my family. I am honored to have two amazing boys, T who is 7 years old and J who is 4. They give me something to be thankful for daily and usually give me a story to share.

This year is a special year though. I was give the most perfect birthday gift early. It arrived Monday morning and didn't come in your traditional packaging.

* It didn't travel through air, water, or arrive in a delivery car.

* It didn't arrive in a box with a large black smile on it (although I do LOVE those kind of presents).

* It wasn't wrapped in fancy paper with a bow on top.

* It wasn't in a bag with crinkly paper precisely placed.

This particular gift has been waiting to arrive for 9 months. It was being perfected day by day and I grew to love it more every moment I waited and anticipated its arrival.
YES, I was blessed with an early birthday present at the hospital on February 25th. My little girl, A, has joined our family and has changed it for the better. What more could a mom ask for as a present?
